Garapan
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Garapan is the largest village and the center of the tourism industry on the island of Saipan, which is a part of the United States Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands (CNMI).
Garapan is located on Saipan’s west coast and is home to the majority of the island’s major hotels and the American Memorial Park, which honors American soldiers who died during the Battle of Saipan. It is also home to Saipan's red-light district and contained 1500 prostitutes during a 2006 estimate.[1]. The CNMI government has spent money to improve the infrastructure and safety in the area but has so far been unsuccessful at eliminating the seamier elements.
