Garage Girl (Demo Tape)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Garage Girl was a demo tape recorded by the rock band Ash at Cosmic Ray's Studio in February of 1993. This demo tape contained the two best songs from Shed which later appeared on Trailer, Ash's first album. This was the demo tape that gained Ash the attention they needed to start a successful music career. They were signed to La-La Land Records after the owner, Stephen Taverner, heard this demo tape. The track "Jack Names the Planets" which originally appeared on Shed was to become Ash's first single and Petrol their second. Other tracks on this album, such as "Don't Know," "Coasting," "The Little Pond," and "Jazz '59" were released as B-sides later on. "Intense Thing" and the second recording of "Obscure Thing" (the first appeared on the Home Demo) ended up being re-recorded once more for inclusion onTrailer. "Only Friend" (formerly Ex Bon Jovi), "Don't Talk To Them," and "Rick's Riff" are also re-recorded songs. The cover of this demo tape features a drawing of a little girl at a gas station, filling up her car. The insert features a drawing of "Cosmic Ray" and the track listing, in which the track "Don't Talk To Them" is absent from although it appears on the tape.
