[edit] History
Originally, when Iceland was settled in the 9th century, there were two farms on the present-day area of Garðabær. Their names were Vífilsstaðir and Skúlastaðir. Vífilsstaðir was named after Vífill, a one-time slave of Ingólfur Arnarson, the first settler of Iceland.
