Ganda is a popular name for Bataknese. It is one of big ethnic groups in Indonesia. Sirait is a variant of the Siraja surname, from Siraja Batak, whom the Bataknese believe they all descend from.

Sirait is part of the group of surnames which are called the Nairasaon, of which the other members are Manurung, Sitorus, and Butar-butar.

The Bataknese live in Toba, a highland about 1500 m above sea level. The place is named after Lake Toba which is the larges lake in Indonesia.
