Ganado Unified School District

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Ganado Unified School District is located in Ganado, Arizona, Apache County. The district is comprised of four schools: Ganado High School, Ganado Middle School, Ganado Intermediate School [1] and Ganado Primary School. Ganado Primary School is known for effectively using a wholistic approach to language and culture [2] and as "one of the best examples of a school culture that supports professional development" [3]. Nearly 100 percent of the students in the district are Navajo speaking Diné as their native language. This effects the learning environment in many ways. For example, 68 percent of Ganado Intermediate School's third, fourth, and fifth graders are classified as Limited-English Proficient [4] .
