[edit] Can You Please Help Me?
Hey Buddy, My handle here is GamingScholar. I am fairly new to wikipedia, but have attempted to conduct myself with maturity, honesty, and respect for the facts while attempting to post a new encyclopedic article. However, my attempts to post this were rebuffed by a crazy administrator who speedily deleted my work over and over citing incorrect and different reasons each time, and now the name of the article if entirely locked up! I first attempted to politely contact him to discuss this and was ignored. My request to an informal mediation cabal recieved no reply. This is starting to give me a bad experience trying to use this site. If you can please help me, I'd be happy to provide you with more information. Thanks ! —The preceding unsigned comment was added by GamingScholar (talk • contribs) .
- To back up the notability, can you give me a reliable source that would qualify under WP:RS? —Wknight94 (talk) 04:46, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
- Yes, I do mean a reliable source for the Gabrielangel article that has been deleted four times now. As far as talk page sections, I really don't care. As far as newbie user-friendliness, I've added a welcome message on this page - hopefully it will help you get started. —Wknight94 (talk) 05:13, 23 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Reply from Zsinj
Hello! You recently left a message on my user talk page about Gabrielangel. Before addressing why I deleted this article, please let me address this: Stop jumping to conclusions. The article was deleted a total of four times by three different administrators. I only deleted and protected the page from deletion the fourth time. Also, before you start accusing me of harassing you, please note that this is the first time I've been online since I deleted that page. I am in no way "ignoring" you.
Now on to the article in question. Articles are expected to have a level of notability that is well sourced by third parties. A website pointing to a forum thread or a website created by one of the involved parties does not count. Furthermore, if a third party website reported on the subject, sources have to be reliable in themselves. Hence, a blog or something similar does not qualify as a source.
The primary reason I deleted the page was due to the fact that it had been deleted three times prior to mine. The article in its whole is still intact and is located at User:Gabrielangel. Please also review the criteria for speedy deletion particularly the 7th item under Articles. It is as follows:
- Unremarkable people or groups/vanity pages. An article about a real person, group of people, band, or club that does not assert the importance or significance of its subject. If the assertion is disputed or controversial, it should be taken to AfD instead.
Lastly, I would like to ask you not to try to turn this into a good-guy/bad-guy case as it is far from this. Before going to any mediation cabal, go first to Deletion Review. This is the first place you should go to get the page evaluated and undeleted, per concensus of others. If the article is undeleted, it will then be brought to Articles for Deletion where it will be evaluated as a subject worthy of being listed on Wikipedia per the policies I linked to earlier. This is also done by consensus of others in the community.
Thank you. If you have any other questions, comments, concerns, etc., please bring them to my user talk page. --ZsinjTalk 15:50, 24 September 2006 (UTC)
