Gammaridea is a suborder of small, shrimp-like crustaceans. It contains about 5,700 of the 7,000 described species of amphipods, in approximately 1,000 genera, divided between around 125 families. Gammaridea includes all freshwater amphipods, such as Gammarus pulex.
