IMDb profile

Gamera vs. Guillon (ガメラ対大悪獣ギロン Gamera tai Daiakujū Giron?, Gamera versus Great Evil Beast Guillon), also known as Gamera vs. Guiron, is a 1969 daikaiju eiga (giant-monster movie), the fifth entry in the Gamera series. It was one of five Gamera films to be featured as episodes of movie-mocking television show Mystery Science Theater 3000.

This film's antagonist, Guillon (named for "guillotine"), is a giant quadrupedal dinosaur-like monster with a head shaped like a long knife. Along the knife is a hole that shoots small magnetic shurikens.

[edit] Plot summary

Two boys, Akio and Tom, spy in their telescope a spaceship that descends into a nearby field. With Akio's little sister in tow, they bicycle out the next day to investigate. The boys accidentally take off for another planet, while Tomoko is left behind, unable to convince any adults (except kindly but eccentric policeman Kondo) of the boys' misadventure. On the icebound planet Terra, the boys encounter two beautiful but sinister alien women and the monster Guillon, who effortlessly dices a Space-Gyaos with its knife-blade head. Gamera eventually tracks the boys to the ice planet and battles Guillon while the boys try to avoid being served up for dinner by their hungry hosts.

[edit] Trivia

  • The monster that was originally going to be chopped up by Guillon couldn't be done (due to budget and time), so Gyaos was used instead. He was painted silver to give the impression that this is a "Space-Gyaos".
