Talk:Gallarus Oratory

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

When I was in Dingle recently two local people - a fisherman and a barman/ student, both in about their late 20's early 30's told me that local fishermen believed that if you passed a baby through that window that person would never drown at sea. Both were told they had been passed through as babies and had seen relatives passing babies through. It wasn't seen as a solemn ceremony - just something worth doing on a trip with no particular ritual involved except passing the child from inside to out.
