Talk:Galactic (computer game)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I don't think the article should be deleted just because the game is rare. It's still a game worthy of mention in the history of 1990s computer games. The game did appear on a The One coverdisk, which made it available to the mainstream public, which is more than can be said for several hundred games out there that I know of. Some of those games are very good, but hardly notable, because they were never distributed to the general public.

In fact, I have never written an article about a computer game which was not, or was not intended to be, released commercially. I have very good experience of at least a few PD or ShareWare games, but I have not deemed them worthy of Wikipedia articles yet.

And how on Earth is "for the Amiga platform" a reason to propose the article for deletion? Is this computer racism? We have loads of articles about games for the Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum, both of which were obsolete even at the time when Galactic was released. JIP | Talk 20:24, 13 December 2006 (UTC)

I agree that the Commodore 64 and ZX Spectrum are even more obscure, and that a "rare" game for those platforms would be even less notable (unless it had become notable through ports to other platforms, emulators, or other means.) However, Amiga has now basically disappeared as a mass-market computer platform, so as far as games for the Amiga go, we are talking about historical interest, largely. I will send this to AFD and see what the community has to say. --Brianyoumans 20:45, 13 December 2006 (UTC)
