The Gallant Unit Citation is a military decoration of the United States Air Force which was created in 2001 by order of the Secretary of the Air Force. The Gallant Unit Citation is awarded to any Air Force unit which distinguishes itself by extraordinary heroism while engaged in armed combat with an enemy force.
The Gallant Unit Citation is considered to be the unit equivalent of the Silver Star and ranks just below the Presidential Unit Citation (US). Additional awards of the Gallant Unit Citation are denoted by oak leaf clusters.
