Gaizinkalns, at 312m above sea level, constitutes the highest point in Latvia. It is situated a short distance to the west of the town of Madona.

Although only of relatively small elevation, Gaizinkalns has been developed as a skiing destination, albeit with a short run and a single lift. In order to rival Suur Munamägi - the highest point of neighbouring Estonia at 318m - a tower was built to achieve a greater overall elevation; however the construction quality has been somewhat sub-standard and consequently the tower is now closed to the public for safety reasons.
