Gail Sheridan was an activist in the Scottish Socialist Party between 1999 to 2006. In 2003 she stood as a local councillor for Glasgow Cardonald. She works as an air hostess and married former leader Tommy Sheridan in 2000. They have one child.
She was heavily involved in the 2006 court case Sheridan v News International in which her husband sued the News of the World for libel over allegations that he had committed adultery and attended a swingers' club in Manchester. During the case when asked if she would have given evidence if she had believed the stories against her husband she said "There is no way I would be here. Neither would you [Tommy Sheridan]. You would be in the Clyde with a piece of concrete tied round you and I would be in court for your murder." [1]
