Gael Ortega was a fictional character on the television series 24, played by Jesse Borrego. He appeared in the show's third season.
At the start of season three, Ortega was shown as a mole in CTU working for Mexican drug lords the Salazars, until it was later revealed that he was involved in a sting operation with Jack Bauer and Tony Almeida to take a deadly virus off the black market by purchasing it from the Salazars.
Following the failure to purchase the virus, Gael personally tried to stop a viral device from detonating in a hotel, but it exploded in his face. He later died of the effects, with his religious beliefs preventing him from committing suicide, meaning he underwent a slow and painful death.
Later, as his wife went to collect his belongings from CTU, she learned that Stephen Saunders was behind the virus and killed him.
