[edit] NZ Cuisine on Portal:NZ
Hi gadfium, thanks for the heads-up. Nice to know my meagre efforts have acquired such prestige ;o) ~ ~ Papeschr 03:26, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Peter Snow
Thanks for letting me know you have started the article on Peter Snow (doctor), particularly the link to his obituary. My father was from Tapanui, and Dr Snow was our family doctor. We have seen the passing of a great man and a brilliant diagnostician. Blarneytherinosaur 10:17, 2 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Ahmed Zaoui
Sorry about that. I've been sick. I'll try to get back to work on it with you soon. Armon
[edit] You bet me to it...
I just watched the article on Close up and was about to add on ITN,a bit about Trade Me been purchased :) Brian | (Talk) 06:13, 6 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] AutoWikiBrowser
I went to try it out to fix page references but it says I need to be enabled to use it by an Admin -can you enable me? Armon 13:25, 7 March 2006 (UTC) Thanks! -and fair enough about the tech support! Armon 02:08, 8 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Kiwi English
Hi Gadfium! I am currently working on a project about New Zealand and I'd like some kiwi to record him/herself speaking in English and/or Maori. Would that be possible? Thanks for your atention and help. ;-) If you don't wish to do that but you know of someone who wouldn't mind, I'd appreciate you telling me who. Thanks a lot again. Adleos 15:01, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, I was not born in New Zealand and still have a slight accent. I also speak no Maori. I'm sure you'll be able to find someone else from Category:Wikipedians in New Zealand.-gadfium 18:20, 9 March 2006 (UTC)
- Some people you might approach are User:Moriori, User:Evil Monkey, User:Kahuroa (I don't know him, but he speaks Maori better than anyone else I've come across on Wikipedia) and User:Brian New Zealand. You could also post your request at Wikipedia:New Zealand Wikipedians' notice board.-gadfium 04:22, 10 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Image confusion resolved, I think
Thank you for stepping in and resolving the image confusion pointed out by dbenbenn. I believe you interpreted my intentions correctly and made the right decision about deletions. Thanks for that.
I've been away travelling on the South Island for five weeks and will eventually have images to upload for articles on appropriate subjects.

[edit] Tawkerbot2
The escalating autowarn is in the works, the current one was a quick patch because we had no warning system at all, it should be up in a couple days max -- Tawker 04:28, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Spam Accusations
- You have lamely alleged "spam" as a reason for blocking, reverting, deleting, and stalking editors. Don't you have anything else to do with yourself but to chase other editors around Wikipedia for the purpose of abusing your admin privileges? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 151.213.230.206 (talk • contribs) .
- User talk:151.213.230.206 Gadfium, you allege spam but can you prove it? You sound so angry, maybe you should take a break from Wikipedia and let others enjoy the experience absent your outbursts and fits of rage.
[edit] Re: Featured portal candidates
Yes, there is a backlog at WP:FPCAN. I've had only haphazard access to Wikipedia over the last month and thus have fallen behind. I'll try to clear them through this afternoon.--cj | talk 03:29, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
- Could you finish the promoting procedure for P:NZ. I've got to run. Thanks, --cj | talk 07:29, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
- Entirely my pleasure!-gadfium 07:35, 12 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re:NZ DYK
s'alright :) My fault for not following my own instructions and putting the "new" and "pic" in bold and caps! Anyway, it simply means we've got another one that can be used sometime. Grutness...wha? 09:16, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Nice work
For your admirable restraint; truly impressive. This is an example of why Wikipedia holds together as well as it does. Happy editing! Antandrus (talk) 03:04, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
- Funny, you and me messaged at the same time. Good idea, btw! Antandrus (talk) 03:05, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Thanks
No problem. :) --Rory096 03:09, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
- You're welcome :)--Shanel 03:10, 14 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Sorry
Sorry about that, I had no idea. I shall write the text with no pictures, but I am still unclear about why you erased the text as well. Tell me where am I supposed to tell my fellow-students that there is a new userbox for them except there? I understand your objection to the picture, but I don't see why I shouldn't talk about it...--Bjankuloski06en 08:19, 16 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Suzy Aitken article re: it's vs its
Oops I stand corrected sorry. Have reverted. Glen Stollery C T 01:03, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
- No problem. Everyone gets "it's" wrong sometimes. It's one of the traps of the English language.-gadfium 01:22, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
- No kidding! ;) Glen Stollery C T 01:50, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] NZ Cadet Corps photo
Yes, I was wondering that my self. (btw, this photo has been published in a local newspaper) If need be, what I'll do is, on the next 'cadets' day, I'll see if I can get them to agree Brian | (Talk) 04:05, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
- They did know that the photo will be published in a local Newspaper, but not an online encyclopedia :) Brian | (Talk) 04:35, 18 March 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Hello
Hey Gadfium, Here is my reply to James F, about the 486 vs 486 DX2 processor debate. Sorry about the Anon part, using a govt computer.
Mr Forrestor,
You stated on Wikipedia that "No, the anon is mistaken. At 20MHz CPU clock, a DX2 will only drive the system bus at 10MHz, whereas a DX would drive it at the full 20MHz; thus, the performance would be substantially reduced at like-for-like clocks. The point was that the same technology would allow a whopping 40MHz clock, without re-designing the motherboard, the bus, the devices hanging off it, or the memory. James F. (talk) 01:21, 21 March 2006 (UTC):"
I am that anon...
Actually this is comparing apples to oranges. With the DX2 running at 10 MHZ and the DX running at 20, the system bus's are running at different speeds. You should compare chips with the SAME BUS speed, not PROCESSOR speed.
You should compare the 33 Mhz system bus with a DX and a DX2 (Yes I have swapped the chips many a time in the day, in fact a better swap was the DX4 which gave you a 100 Mhz processor speed, with 33 Mhz system bus)
Here are the true stats 486 DX 33 MHz with 27 MIPS (15.86 SPECint92) 486 DX2 (Same 33 Mhz bus speed) 66 MHz with 54 MIPS (39.6 SPECint92) 486 DX4 (Once again 33 Mhz bus speed) 100 MHz with 70.7 MIPS (54.59 SPECint92) Same bus speed, but the Mips doubled with the DX2, and nearly tripled with the DX4

hi thanks for the welcome message
