Gabrielle Roth

Gabrielle Roth is a dancer, musician, theatre director, author, and most importantly the originator of the 5Rhythms Movement Meditation practice. She is a self-described female shaman currently living in Manhattan. Through all of her work she invites participants to ground into their true self by giving space to the creative spirit, and tapping into their own shamanic archetype through dance, song, poetry, acting and healing.

Gabrielle Roth was raised in San Francisco, and has a son, Jonathan Horan. She is married to Robert Ansell.

Gabrielle Roth has been making trance dance & tribal ambient music to support the 5Rhythms Movement Meditation practice with the Mirrors since the early 1980's. The drumming provided by Sanga of the Valley, and Gabrielle's husband Robert Ansell is instrumental to the success of the recordings. She has also collaborated with many other musicians including Deva Premal, Miten, Boris Grebenshikov. The music is produced through [www.ravenrecording.com Raven Recording] in New York.

In the 1960's Gabrielle conceived of the idea of using dance as a meditation through her trademarked work the 5Rhythms. This practice is now widespread in the UK, Europe and America.
