G-java
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
G-java is a Game Maker to Java converter application written by TGMG,ISMAvatar and BZGaming in the Java programming language. It was first released in 2004. It is designed to allow its users to easily develop multi-platform Java computer games without learning the Java language.
G-java uses .gm6 files created in the Game Maker IDE, and converts them to .jar files which can be executed in any Java VM including popular web browsers such as Internet Explorer and Firefox. For experienced users, G-java contains a built-in scripting programming language called "EGML", or "Extended Game Maker Language". This allow users to create programs with java functions not available in the Game Maker Language.
The Game Maker IDE is currently only available on the Microsoft Windows OS, although G-java may be ported in the future to the Mac and Linux platforms using the Java programming language codenamed LGM. The programmer Mr Egg, a visitor of the Game Maker Community, is developing a full-featured Linux IDE for Game Maker which will be able to read and write compatible GM6 (Game Maker 6.x) files. Mr Eggs port is known as TuxGM (or TGM for short).
[edit] Current version
As of November 1, 2006, G-java is at version 1.08 beta 2. It now allows users to use almost all Game maker actions and events in their games. GM_guru is also working on a GML Parser which will be available soon.
