Talk:Gīlān Province
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Giliki(Gileki) is neither a dialect of Persian nor a branch of Pahlavi. It has a separate grammer from both languages. Over the past decades, there were extensive restrictions regarding teaching, using in mass media and officially using it. Therefore, Gilaki language has been gradually been disolved in official languae (so-called Persian). That is why it is currently dying off.

Can we please take these half-baked BS out of discussion pages and stick to facts? It is getting pretty annoying, especially since it is not backed by any hard (as in logically acceptable to any objective observer) evidence? Precisely what is "so-called" about Persian, can any one tell me? There is language replacement going on in many parts of Iran, including Gilan. As is the case in other parts of the world. Attributing this rather natural event to some kind of grand conspiracy says something about the writer! -- mrjahan, 5:32 PM SET, July 30, 2006.
