[edit] Development

Originally, Fuzion Frenzy 2 was rumored to be in development for a June 2004 release by the original game's developer, Blitz Games.[1] An E3 showing was also rumored, but it never surfaced. Two years passed, and then, on July 27, 2006, Microsoft Game Studios released a press release[2] stating that Fuzion Frenzy 2 is being developed by Hudson Soft, and will be released sometime around the holiday season of 2006.

Though this target date was not reached, it is expected to ship as early as January 30th, 2007.

[edit] Features

Like its predecessor, Fuzion Frenzy 2 is a multiplayer game in which players choose colorful characters and compete to win a tournament made up of various mini-games. Any positions which are not filled by human players are instead controlled by computer players.

According to the press release, there will be 40 mini-games, like the original, set across seven planets. Players are able to create their own customized tournaments that can be shared on Xbox Live while building achievement points. Gamers can also use tournament cards (either won or given out) in order to influence the outcome of the game, including selecting the next mini-game to be played, or choosing the next planetary destination.

All of the original characters - Dub, Naomi, Geena, Sampson, Jet, and Zack - are returning, but in a more vibrant way. The characters look better due to the power of the next-gen. There is one more unconfirmed person, her name is Crimson, her main color is cherry red, she has blonde hair, she is reportedly Jet's unidentical twin sister, her symbol is a heart, and she is the same height as Jet (maybe a tad taller).

[edit] Story

Fuzion Frenzy was the most popular game on the world but it became so competitive that the world leaders put a ban on the game globally. Later, the world became overpopulated but people refused to leave the Earth willingly. So, the world leaders reinstated the Fuzion Frenzy games, but on 6 planets instead of on Earth, to inhibit inter-planetary immigration.

[edit] Trailer

At the Tokyo Game Show 2006, a trailer was released, which can be viewed here. It shows a selection of six characters, all of which seem to be carried over the original game, although with a few alterations, such as Jet's bright pink look being toned-down to more of a purple.

The trailer reveals the commentator has a physical appearance this time.
