Future Rock

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Future Rock (or "FR" for short) is an electronic rock trio hailing from Chicago, IL. The band consists of Felix Moreno on bass guitar and synthesizer, Mickey Kellerman on keyboards and synthesizers, and Darren Heitz on drums and synthesizer.

Future Rock formed in early 2004 and set out to fuse instrumental rock with dance elements. Since then, the band has become notorious for layering and sampling themselves throughout live performances. In May of 2006, Future Rock released their debut album, Sugar Coated Bullets.

Mickey Kellerman and Felix Moreno utilize a myriad of synthesizers, electronics, and instruments to compose and arrange their music. The audience can rarely identify the origin of each sound. And drummer Darren Heitz finishes FR's sound by blending acoustic and electronic drum timbres with live sampling through his synthesizers.

Future Rock has enjoyed a breakout year in 2006, performing at many of the largest music festivals in US, including High Sierra and Wakarusa. In August this year, the band will perform two sets at Camp Bisco, one set of original music and a late-night set where they will perform the music of Aphex Twin.
