Fushigi no Dungeon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Fushigi no Dungeon (which roughly translates to "Mysterious Dungeon") is a series of random dungeon video games developed by Chunsoft.
Although all of the games in the series bear the "Fushigi no Dungeon" moniker somewhere in their titles, only the two "Shiren the Wanderer" games contain original characters; all of the other games in the series license their characters from other roleplaying games, resulting in games like Chocobo Fushigi no Dungeon (Chocobo's Mysterious Dungeon in the US) and Pokémon Fushigi no Dungeon (Pokémon Mystery Dungeon in the US).
The first title, Torneko no Daibouken - Fushigi no Dungeon or Torneko's Great Adventure, starred Torneko (Taloon in the US), a shopkeeper from Dragon Quest IV.
The series is notable for including many of the few console games in the roguelike genre, most of which are for the PC.

[edit] Gameplay
Fushigi no Dungeon games all center around exploring a dungeon with randomly generated layouts and fighting other characters therein in a turn-based manner (and not just in fighting; every time the player takes a step, the opponents also take a step). Escape from the dungeon is usually only allowed in certain places, or through the use of certain items.
