"Funny How Time Flies (When You're Having Fun)" is the seventh and final single released by American R&B singer Janet Jackson from her third album Control. "Funny How Time Flies (When You're Having Fun)" was released in the U.K. but only for airplay in the U.S. in 1987. It is suggested that since The Pleasure Principle missed the top ten by four positions on the Billboard Hot 100, "Funny How Time Flies (When You're Having Fun)" was released as a radio single in America. The song was written by Jackson and collaborators/producers Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis. It performed poorly on the UK charts only reaching #59. In America, though while it never charted, it became a famed quiet storm staple on adult R&B radio ever since its release, the single gets lots of after dark play, and has even become a R&B favorite voted as number 3 on the list of best Janet Jackson slow Jams in 2004. The song is about a woman who thinks it is "funny how time flies when you're having fun". She would to meet up with her significant other again because of the "time" they spent together. It is notable for the singer's moans and groans and rich French-speaking etiquette at the beginning and at the end of the song. Janet's mother was offended by her youngest daughter's moans on the track. There is no music video for the single.
