Funday PawPet Show
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Funday PawPet Show is "the 'Net's first and only regularly scheduled four hour puppet show". It is streamed over the Internet Sunday nights from 19:00 to 23:00 Eastern from Kissimmee, Florida. The show started in November 1999, and is hosted by a variety of puppet characters. The Funday PawPet Show has sparked a few imitations in the US and various other countries. The show, among others, served as inspiration for the regular Lionel Scritchie's Dormitory series of puppetry events at Eurofurence.

[edit] Roll Call
One of the cast reads the nicknames of those in the show's IRC channel while the "Jarabe tapatío" is played.
[edit] Spits-or-Swallows
The cast eat and/or drink something their viewers have sent in.
[edit] The Pink Flamingo Challenge
Show visitors are treated to some sort of pastry (preferably of a chocolatey nature) which they are encouraged to eat while viewing a short clip from the ending to the movie Pink Flamingos (in which "(How Much Is) That Doggie in the Window?" is played, while Divine chews and swallows real dog feces). Since this portion of the film is disturbingly graphic, only the audience's reaction is shown during broadcast. On some occasions, a substitute food item (such as a burrito) is offered; on rarer occasions, such as a fursuiting guest, no item is offered.
[edit] Pop culture references
- The fruit durian, first sent in as a Spits-or-Swallows challenge, has had recurring mentions on the show, both from additional durian-containing Spits-or-Swallows (semi-)edibles, or in general banter. Cast members are of the stated opinion that it smells very bad.
- The song Yatta has been played so often on the show, it has now been banned from airing... Though the ban is ignored from time-to-time.
- Cast member Simba loves Pop-Tarts. On the Christmas episode he was given a brick of 18 boxes of the pastries, then on the Christmas in July episode he was given a Pop-Tarts carrier "For all my Pop-Tart storage needs!" The brick of Pop-Tarts also led to a catch phrase on the show: 'It's the gift of Pop-Tarts, ladies and gentleman!'
