Fundação Getulio Vargas

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Fundação Getúlio Vargas (brazilian site) (Getulio Vargas Foundation) is a prestigious Brazilian Think Tank focused on academic research, courses, consulting, and public services. Its main areas of work are:

  • Administration,
  • History,
  • Theoretical Economics and
  • Applied Economics.
  • Business Law

It also one of the top Brazilian schools, offering majors in Administration, Economics and Business Law, along with MBAs , masters and doctorates. Their Administration and Business Law courses are self alleged the best in Latin America and one of the tops of the world. Fundação Getulio Vargas, FGV is a pioneer in the teaching of Business Administration and Business law in Brazil and is a Brazilian center of teaching, research, publication and consulting in the field of Administration and recently, on the Law area.

The school offers a complete range of courses for professional training at the undergraduate, graduate and continuing education levels.

Through partnerships with the most important Brazilian companies and government institutions, FGV-EAESP offers modern facilities in its classrooms, distance learning center and computer laboratories.

These partnerships also allow the active exchange of students and professors with schools and universities in other countries, along with supporting the scholarship fund. Also, the institution is highly regarded by its former students.

FGV (as its close competitor IBMEC) is a private school while the Brazilian college system is majorly a free state education system. But given its tradition, faculty, installations and high regard among companies, the admission process is very selective.

Even though it charges expensive tuitions (not unlike any other good b-school worldwide) the school provides funding for those in need. The school is proud of never having a student drop out for not having money.

FGV is also proud for not using taxpayers' money for financing elite education in a country with such poor public services - very unlike the public universities.
