Fumiyo Fujiyoshi (藤吉文世 Fujiyoshi Fumiyo) is a character in the novel Battle Royale, and the film and manga of the same name. In the film she was played by Aki Inoue.

Fumiyo has a blood type of B.

[edit] Pre-Program

Fumiyo Fujiyoshi is one of the class of third-year students at the fictional Shiroiwa Junior High School in the fictional town of Shiroiwa (the town is in Kagawa Prefecture in the novel and manga, while in the film it is in the Kanagawa Prefecture). In the novel and manga, she was a quiet and caring girl. Fumiyo was the school nurse's aide.

In the some of the flashback stories in the manga Fumiyo is seen hanging around with Yukie Utsumi and her group and also seems to be friends with Noriko Nakagawa. Also in the manga Yutaka Seto had a crush on her (but she was never aware of this).

In the movie, she was one of many students who bullied Noriko Nakagawa. The movie never explicitly states that she is the nurse's aide; the French DVDs identify her as the nurse's aide [1].

[edit] During the Program

While the students are in the school at the start of the Program, receiving their instructions, Fumiyo is caught whispering to Yukie Utsumi. The teacher (Kinpatsu Sakamochi in the novel, Yonemi Kamon in the manga, Kitano in the film) throws a knife at her, which lands in her forehead, killing her as her lifeless eyes stare in shock.

In the film, Fumiyo is the second person caught whispering; earlier Yoji Kuramoto whispers to Yoshimi Yahagi, and Kitano throws a piece of chalk at Yoji's head. Fumiyo dies after she whispers to Yuko Sakaki. Kitano uses the same knife used to stab Fumiyo to stab Yoshitoki Kuninobu in the buttocks.

In the manga Yutaka Seto along with Shinji Mimura plans to avenge her, and names the bomb they are making "Fumiyo's Revenge".
