Front Mission Online
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Front Mission Online is an online game developed by Square Enix using the world setting in the Front Mission series. The multiplayer access is provided by the online service of Square Enix, PlayOnline.
The game went into beta testing in November of 2004, and on May 12, 2005, Square Enix officially released the PlayStation 2 version of the game. The PC version of the game was developed and released some seven months later, on December 8, 2005.
The game takes place during the second Huffman conflict. Players choose to side with either the Oceania Community Union (OCU) or United Continental States (UCS) and joins the war controlling wargear called Wander Panzer (WAP). All the action takes place exactly like an action game as the game has built-in support for VoIP.
Due to the fact that the communication in this game is not just server-to-client but also client-to-client (more commonly known as P2P), routers that do not support UPnP (Universal Plug and Play) might not be able to provide sufficient network access to the game. Because of this, players are advised to utilize the connection tool provided via PlayOnline to confirm that their networking environment can provide sufficient access to the game.
