From First to Last originally started as a high school pop punk band called First Too Last, founded by current guitarist Matt Good. Later on, Travis Richter was added as a second guitarist. Shortly thereafter Joey Antillion(bass) and Derek Bloom (drums) joined up. By the time they came to record their first EP Aesthetic, Phillip Reardon (vocals) had joined.

Reardon left the band citing musical differences right before the recording of Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Body Count and formed a band called The New Tragic. The band decided they needed someone who could lead the band, since Richter mainly screamed and Good had to focus on guitar; so after Reardon's departure, Sonny Moore joined the group. He was found by the band on the networking site MySpace and was asked to audition. He originally had come it to try for a spot on guitar, but the band realized Moore was a good singer and they quickly asked him to front the band. At this point Moore was just 16 years old. With this lineup, the band recorded Dear Diary, My Teen Angst Has a Body Count.
In late 2004, Weiseberg was kicked out of the band and subsequently sued for $10 million. According to Sonny Moore, "Jon told us numerous times that he wasn't sure if this is what he wanted to do. Then he left in the middle of our tour with Bad Religion [in late 2004], and we had to get our tour manager at the time to learn all the bass parts in a day so we could stay on the tour." Weisberg claimed he felt like he was "getting screwed over."[1]. He has since dropped the lawsuit and formed theTRAGIC. Alicia Simmons played bass for the band on their Dead by Dawn 2 Tour.

After Weisberg left, the band called for Wes Borland from Limp Bizkit bass guitarist, to play bass on their second full length Heroine. It was released on March 21st, 2006. Shortly thereafter, they signed to major label Capitol Records.
The band was scheduled to play the 2006 Vans Warped Tour, but were forced to drop out due to surgery removal of a nodule on singer Sonny Moore's vocal cords. The band had discussed doing a fall/winter club tour with Wes Borland's band Black Light Burns, on which Borland will also play bass with the band, although this seems unlikely with the announcement of their upcoming tour.

After they left Warped Tour '06, FFTL began writing up material for their new album. They plan to return to the studio in early 2007 to begin work on their next album, which will be released on Capitol Records.

[edit] World Champions Tour Controversy
In the Fall of 2006, FFTL was supposed to partcipate on the World Championship Tour headlined by Atreyu, also including Every Time I Die and Chiodos. The news was well received by fans as an assurance of not only the return of From First to Last to the stage, but the full recovery of Sonny Moore after his two vocal surgeries during the summer. However, on October 26th, 2006, From First to Last either left or was kicked off of the World Championship Tour, depending on either Atreyu or FFTL's point of view. On that day, a bulletin was posted on From First To Last's Myspace stating, "We regret to inform you (the fans) that we have been "kicked" off tour. We did everything possible to stay on this tour. Sonny would not have been able to sing due to a tear in his vocal chord, but would have been on stage playing guitar while Craig, of Chiodos, would handle singing duties for the remainder of the tour. Our plan to enable us to play the rest of the tour was disregarded and as our crew was setting up for the show in Worcester, MA we were informed that we were being kicked off of the tour. Understand that it was not our choice to leave this tour... we were forced to leave. Once again we apologize... to you (the fans)... to everyone who bought a ticket to see us play... to the KVLT... if we were allowed to be on the rest of this tour we would be." This came to a shock to many fans and disappointment as well especially since they dropped out of Warped Tour this summer. Atreyu responded recently, stating they did what they felt was best, and that From First to Last overreacted. They also labelled FFTL as greedy and only in it for the money when they stated that they still wished to be paid fully despite the fact that Sonny would be playing guitar rather than singing and despite Atreyu saying that the band wasn't complete without a singer and an incomplete band meant incomplete pay. Matt of FFTL was reported to have threatened to sue Atreyu. Atreyu responded promptly. Fans of both Atreyu and FFTL are now split on who to support. Read this article for more info. The post-hardcore band Saosin has also shown a strong distaste in the band.
[edit] Lostprophets UK Tour 2006
As well as the World Championship Tour, From First To Last announced they would not be touring the UK with Lostprophets in November and December 2006. Travis Richter made an apology for not being able to be on the tour on the band's official website and myspace blog.

- X12 Days of XXXMASX - Released on A Santa Cause - It's A Punk Rock Christmas compilation album, in 2003, featuring old vocalist Phil Reardon (of The New Tragic).
- Failure by Designer Jeans - Non-album track, included on the Punk-O-Rama Vol. 10 compilation album, in 2005 (Also released on smartpunk.com's Music on the Brain volume 1).
- Christmassacre - Found on the Taste of Christmas compilation album (2005), a series of Christmas songs done by bands that performed on the Taste of Chaos tour. Moore was having throat surgery so Richter screams the verses while Good sings the chorus.
[edit] The Color Of Violence
The Color Of Violence was originally a band featuring guitarists Matt Good and Joey Antillion (former FFTL bassist), bassist Chad Crews (former FFTL roadie), drummer Derek Bloom, and singer Travis Richter. They went on one tour with the now defunct Venusian Skyline. Travis was unable to accompany the band, so David of Cowboys Became Folk Heroes became the new vocalist one day before the tour started without ever having heard the songs. Currently, the Color of Violence is the moniker being used for Derek Bloom and Travis Richter's electronic side-project. They go by the names of Guy Nucleosity and Glitch Killgasm. In 2005, they announced an upcoming record, to be released on Epitaph Records, but no news has come since, and any release is unlikely given FFTL's Capitol Records contract.
