Friedel Grützmacher

Elfriede "Friedel" Grützmacher is a German politician. Born on 3 August 1942 in East Frisia, she became a teacher in Wörth in Rhineland-Palatinate. She joined the Green Party in the 1980s, and was elected to the Rhineland-Palatinate Landtag in 1991. She served as leader of her party group in the Landtag from 1993 to 1996, vice-leader from 1996-2001, and has been vice-president of the Landtag since 2001. She serves on the Committees for Justice and Internal Affairs and the Penal Justice Commission. Prior to 1996, she was responsible for educational policy.
