Prof. Dr. Dr. hc. Frederic Vester

Is this a typo? or is this common in German? -- Smerdis of Tlön 12:55, 4 Nov 2003 (UTC)

It doesn't seem to be a typo. The first "Dr." is a doctorate; the second, Dr. hc. (for honoris causa) is an honour which you can receive from another university for your work. If someone has two "ordinary" doctorates, you write "DDr.", but in this case -- as the two cannot really be compared -- this does not seem feasible. --KF 13:09, 4 Nov 2003 (UTC)
That makes sense, thanks. -- Smerdis of Tlön 15:16, 4 Nov 2003 (UTC)
