Freeorder
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A freeorder is a balance among designed and spontaneous orders that is conducive to quest.
The fundamental concepts regarding kinds of order are found in chapter two, "Cosmos and Taxis", of Law, Legislation and Liberty, by F. A. Hayek.
The word probably first appeared in print in an interview with Leif Smith published in the Whole Earth Review, "The Zen of Networking", sometime between 1978 and 1981. (details gratefully received).
The word was originated by Smith in 1970 and used in seminars called "An Introduction to Freeorder" held in the Los Angeles area during 1970 and 1971.
