Free-Will (label)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Free-Will is a large, independent music label in Japan that signs and manages Visual Kei bands. Some of their bands and their sub-labels' bands will sign to a major label for distribution, while Free-Will continues to manage the band. Currently the label has three branches in Japan, Europe, and the United States.

[edit] History

Free-Will was founded in 1986 by Dynamite Tommy when his band Color released their EP MOLTGRAIN. While Visual Kei was popular between 1980 and 1990 the phrase "East Ecstacy and West Free-Will" was coined. Ecstacy referred to Yoshiki's Label Extasy Records.
