The following is the timeline of the "Freddy and Jason universe," the fictional universe in which the events of the Friday the 13th and A Nightmare on Elm Street movies take place.

The two originally-separate film series were joined in the long-awaited crossover film Freddy vs. Jason, in which Freddy Krueger, the villain of the Nightmare films, faced off with Jason Voorhees, the main villain of the Friday series.

[edit] 1940s

  • Circa 1940-1942
    • Amanda Krueger, who became a nun (her name in Christ: “Sister Mary Helena”), works at Our Lady of Sorrows (Westin Hills), an institution for the mentally disturbed. The worst of the criminally insane patients are kept in a wing called “The Tower”. During a Christmas holiday, Amanda Krueger is accidentally locked in with the one hundred patients confined there. For days she is raped numerous times. Afterward, she is found alive, badly beaten and “with child”. [3]
    • Months later, after a breech birth, Fredrick Charles Krueger is born and given up for adoption. [4]
  • 1945
    • The then-around-15-years-of-age Pamela is impregnated by Elias Voorhees.
  • Circa 1948-1950
    • Freddy Krueger begins to exhibit sociopathic behavior, including killing small animals. [5]

[edit] 1950s

  • Circa 1954
    • Diana Voorhees is born to Elias and an unknown woman (who is not Pamela).
  • Circa 1955-1960
    • After proclaiming to have learned the “secret of pain”, Fred Krueger (now a teenager) kills his alcoholic and abusive adoptive father: Mr. Underwood. [6]
    • Some years later, Fred marries a woman named Loretta. [7]
  • 1957
    • Summertime - Jason Voorhees purportedly drowns in Crystal Lake when the counselors are having sex. No body is found.
  • 1958
    • June 13 - two Camp Crystal Lake counselors are mysteriously murdered. [8]
  • Circa 1959-1961
    • Attempts to reopen Camp Crystal Lake after the murders are halted by arson and "bad water."

[edit] 1960s

  • 1961
    • Kathryn Krueger is born. [9]
  • Circa 1961-1966
    • Freddy kidnaps and murders 20 neighborhood children of Springwood. The newspapers dub the mysterious killer "The Springwood Slasher". Freddy worked at the local Power Plant and used its Boiler Room as a lair to take his victims. A second lair was also kept in the basement of the Krueger residence. When Loretta finds this basement lair, Freddy strangles her to death in front of young Kathryn. [10]
  • 1966
    • Freddy is arrested for committing the murders of the neighborhood children. Kathryn Krueger is put into foster care, then later adoption. [11]
  • 1968
    • Freddy is released on a legal technicality. As the judge's and the investigator's pockets grew fat from the ongoing trial, it came to light that someone forgot to sign a search warrant in the right place, and all of the evidence against Fred Krueger was inadmissable as evidence. The parents of Springwood take justice into their own hands by burning Freddy alive in his Boiler Room. Amanda Krueger, driven insane after the trial, hangs herself, but her body is not found. [12]

[edit] 1970s

  • Circa 1972

    • August - Alice is killed by Jason in her home when he stabs her in the temple with an ice pick. [13]. Alice's body is missing for the next four years. Jason has kept it in his shack in the woods during this time.

[edit] 1980s

  • Circa 1985
    • Attempting to disassociate itself from the Voorhees family, Crystal Lake changes its name to Forest Green.

[edit] 1990s

  • 1999
    • The events of Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare take place.
    • The town of Springwood destroys all evidence of the Krueger family ever having existed, including blacking out news articles and obituaries of Freddy's victims. Any children claiming to have seen Freddy in their dreams are quietly sent to Westin Hills and put on Hypnocil, an experimental dream suppressant drug. [16]

[edit] 2000s

  • 2008
    • Jason Voorhees is captured for the 2nd time and sentenced to death [18], though the government is unsure how to actually execute him.
  • 2010
    • The government decides to put Jason into a cryogenic freeze at The Crystal Lake Research Facility (which was specifically built to house and study Jason), because Jason won't die, even after attempting several execution methods. Jason nearly escapes after killing several guards, but is frozen by Rowan, the project's leader, who is also trapped in the freezing chamber.

[edit] 2450s

  • 2455
    • August 13 - The events of Jason X take place.

  3. ^ A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors & Freddy's Dead: The Final Nightmare: Freddy’s birth date has not been officially revealed, though it was referenced to be in the 1940’s. During flashbacks in Freddy’s Dead, Freddy looks to be in his mid to late 20’s, which would imply his birth date to be sometime in the early 40’s. Various movie tie-ins have listed his birth date in the late 1930’s, 1946, & 1947. Most fans estimate it to be 1942, due to Freddy would be too young given the physical evidence and a 1946/47 birth date.
