Fred Whitfield (Born January 7, 1938 in Vandiver, Alabama) was a former first baseman in major league baseball. He played from 1962 to 1970, mostly playing with the Cleveland Indians, but he also played with the St. Louis Cardinals, Cincinnati Reds, and Montreal Expos. During his prime he had a good batting average (hitting .270 and .293) and had decent power, hitting 26 and 27 homeruns. However, aside from two years when he played well, Whitfield usually hit much worse. His career batting average was .253.
