Fred T. Perris

Fred Thomas Perris (January 2, 1836 – May 12, 1916) was Chief Engineer of the California Southern Railroad, a company chartered to build a rail connection between the present day cities of San Diego and Barstow, California. Perris oversaw construction of the railroad through Cajon Pass, a route that is still in use by BNSF Railway and Union Pacific Railroad. The city of Perris, California, a station on the California Southern Railroad, was named in his honor.
