Fred Smith (politician)

Fred Smith is a Republican member of the North Carolina General Assembly representing the state's twelfth Senate district, including constituents in Johnston and Wayne counties. An attorney from Clayton, North Carolina, Smith is currently (2003-2004 session) serving in his first term in the state Senate. Smith is rumored to have his eye on the Governor's office in 2008, although only two Republicans have held the office since 1901.
