Fred Manfra's career as a broadcaster has spanned more than 25 years. It started with a job as a radio-man for a little station in Oxnard, CA. After a career playing baseball for the undefeated US Navy baseball exhibitions squad, he decided his calling was not the actual playing of the game, but the calling of the game. He was honorably discharged after spending some years as a catcher. Fred was recruited from the young age of 10 to play for this team. He continued his work in sports broadcasting over the next 25 years moving from boxing, to horse racing, to college football, to the 1984 Summer Olympics, to baseball. He is currently the play-by-play man for the Baltimore Orioles television broadcast team. He lives in Fallston, MD with his wife Marlene. He has two daughters that live on opposite sides of the country, one in Florida and the other in Los Angeles.
