Fred Jones, PhD is an author who has spent over 30 years developing signature methods of classroom management for both regular and special classrooms. The core of his teachings is simply that “responsible students who have learned to manage themselves require much less management from the teacher.” Beginning his research in 1969, before the phrase "classroom management" had even been coined, Dr. Jones set out to create a system of teaching methods to ease the stress level and work load of educators. These methods are explained in a number of books by Dr. Jones including, Positive Classroom Discipline, Positive Classroom Instruction, and Tools for Teaching.
Fred Jones received his PhD in clinical psychology from UCLA. He would go on to join the faculty of the UCLA Medical Center, the University of Rochester, as well as head the Child Experimental Ward of the Neuropsychiatric Institute.
