Fred Dunlap
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Frederick C. Dunlap (May 21, 1859 - December 1, 1902), nicknamed "Sure Shot", was a second baseman in Major League Baseball for the Cleveland Blues (1880-1883), St. Louis Maroons (1884-1886), Detroit Wolverines (1886-1887), Pittsburgh Alleghenys (1888-1890), New York Giants (1890), and the Washington Statesmen (1891). He also served as the manager of Pittsburgh for one season.
Born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Dunlap also managed the Maroons to the league championship during the sole season of the Union Association in 1884. He hit for the cycle on May 24, 1886. Though he was never a star player in a full major league, Dunlap was still considered "a good second baseman".[1]
Dunlap died at age 43 in Philadelphia.
