[edit] Translations?
Could I add the French-to-English translation page to this? There are quite a few requests there for translations of French articles of small communities and the like; that should be relevant, no? Tamarkot 17:13, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- Do you mean the French Collaboration Project WP:FCP or Wikipedia:Translation into English/French (which are already listed)? I've put the word "translation" in one of the headings to make it easier to find. --NYArtsnWords 17:41, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
- Yes! Thanks for the heading--I completely missed it before. Tamarkot 20:25, 25 March 2006 (UTC)
I do not speak french, but would be thrilled and would chech often if french articles were translated. If they are, where can I go to find the links to them. I am facinated by English and French history especially. Merlinus —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Merlinus (talk • contribs).
- You might find the following categories interesting: Category:History of France and Category:History of Britain. --BillC 01:05, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
Don't forget there is also Wikipedia:WikiProject Missing encyclopedic articles/fr, which lists a large number of articles wanting translating and interwiki-linking. --BillC 01:01, 11 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] New articles
Is there a page where we can add Recently-created articles to do with France? Other portals have them (at least, on French Wikipédie they do). --Wonderfool t(c) 00:16, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
- I'll add a section on the notice board for Recently-created articles.-- NYArtsnWords 15:27, 22 April 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Did you know
... that Thierry Henry is actually white? He's a French footballer, thus a French sportsman, (via French by occupation) French, and so a European. Obviously, all Europeans are white, right? --83.64.80.219 10:39, 26 June 2006 (UTC)
- Ouch, now, there's a bad category and a good candidate for deletion. Equendil Talk 12:34, 13 July 2006 (UTC)
- Fixed. Brian 14:10, 13 July 2006 (UTC)btball

[edit] Alternative words for Germans
Does French have alternative words for Germans, as in slang? If so please add them, with a small explanation and perhaps translation at the following article: Alternative words for Germans. Thanks in advance, Rex 15:00, 6 August 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Request for information on Monaco--EU relations
For the article list of European Union member states by accession, I'd need information on the current stance of Monegasque parties and politicians on EU accession -- are there any which advocate it? Has it been ruled out decisively? Any kind of information would be welcome. Thanks! —Nightstallion (?) 18:22, 2 September 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Re: Economy of Paris disputed content
(moved from inappropriate place in "disputes" list on project page)
Please note that the above accusation of original research was added by User:ThePromenader who is currently embroiled in lengthy arguments at Talk:Paris, Talk:List of tallest buildings and structures in Paris and Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2006-09-10 List of Tallest buildings and structures in Paris. So I would take this with a grain of salt. User:Hardouin
- The topic in question is quite obviously original research - but please judge for yourselves. THEPROMENADER 14:13, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

- Apologies for bringing trouble to this page - it would seem that I have some differences with the author of the material in question. Please remove the offending comments, and my reply, from the main page. THEPROMENADER 14:56, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

- This dispute should probably go toward mediation. -- NYArtsnWords 22:19, 19 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] DYK
The DYK section featured on the main page is always looking for interesting new and recently expanded stubs from different parts of the world. Please make a suggestion.--Peta 02:01, 10 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] French scientist Biography
I am looking for images/pictures/sketches of french scientist for their biographies. Some names I am mentioning below :-
[edit] Translation Citation
Please excuse a poor newbie, as this question is probably in the wrong place, but I've been attempting to improve the translation of a section of the article Bruno Pelletier which seems to be taken from his official website in French (a link to which is at the bottom of that article). Others are welcome to help translate, since I don't speak French fluently, but what I would like to know is how it should be cited. If a translation is made, it's no longer taken directly from the official statement on the website. Is some notation required to state that it has been translated? ElinneaG 23:24, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
- Addition: I also meant to ask about whether changing this translation for better readability in English is considered acceptable, since it's given as a quote spoken by someone else. I haven't done translation on Wikipedia before, so I don't know the etiquette or standards. Hopefully some more experienced person can help me out. ElinneaG 23:43, 8 November 2006 (UTC)
[edit] Proposed WikiProject France
There is currently a proposed project dealing with the subject of the nation of France on the Wikipedia:WikiProject/List of proposed projects. Particularly now that article assessment is both a possibility and in several areas an ongoing reality, I personally believe that wikipedia's content relating to France could be dramatically improved by the creation of such a project. Also, creation of such a project would allow for more "advertising" of the existence of a collaboration, through the presence of a project banner on the appropriate pages, and probably draw even more editors to active participation in improving content related to France than the notice board does currently. I would welcome any parties who share this belief to list themselves as members on the page above, and, if there are enough members, to help in the creation of the project itself. Also, the new Wikipedia:WikiProject Germany, which has similar scope, is up and running and assisting in the development of Germany's content, so there is reason to think a similar effort related to France could work as well. Badbilltucker 14:55, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
- Great idea ! It would definately help in organising and structuring the France related information. STTW (talk) 13:35, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
- As a tireless promoter of French-related articles on the Eng wiki (Portal:France and the France-related topics notice board, the French art. French literature and History of France pages), I have to applaud the idea (the same reasons were behind my creating this notice board). This being said, I just don't understand why, for some reason, we don't get a lot of Francophiles on the Eng wiki (note, for example, how nothing has happened with the WP:FCP since its initial creation) and I gather that most French speakers are spending their time working exclusively on the Fr wiki. I would love to see this change... but how to do it? --NYArtsnWords 18:39, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
- Really good question, and I wish I had a really good answer. I can only hope that publicizing the new project might help, as then the Francophiles would know that there is a project here. Also, and hear my own incompetence at French is a definite disservice, maybe if we could add a couple of messages in the french wiki, like fr:Projet:Français in particular, we might be able to get some of them to come over to the English side. Those are probably the two best ideas I can personally think of, which, admittedly, really isn't saying much. Badbilltucker 18:51, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
- I have added a request on the fr:Discussion Projet:Français, hoping for some to change sides. STTW (talk) 22:40, 19 November 2006 (UTC)
