[edit] External links
Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. -- Merope 17:34, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
This is your final warning. Do not submit any more inappropriate external links or articles that constitute advertising. Doing so again will result in your being blocked from editing. -- Merope 17:42, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Hi Merope,
I'm just starting to better understand Wikipedia. The links that I have added are not for the purpose of advertising products etc. While Studica Skills has sponsors, we are providing a service to students and teachers across North America, just like FIRST Robotics or some of the other links you have on the site.
Studica Skills is a way for us to give something back to the education community that we serve. I persnally was involved with FIRST, Skills Canada, Skills USA and TSA. Studica Skills is no different and provides a service to students and teachers online, where all the others do not. Having sponsors is very necessary to attract students and to make this very expensive excercise a success.
Please stop. If you continue spamming you will be blocked from editing. Wickethewok 04:25, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted from Wikipedia. Wickethewok 04:27, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
I've reverted your past excessive linking to outside material. I'd advise to avoid subjects you have a vested interest in or are personally related to. Wickethewok 04:27, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
This is your last warning. The next time you insert a spam link, as you did in 3ds Max, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Persistent spammers may have their websites blacklisted from Wikipedia. —dto (talkcontribs) 05:54, 26 October 2006 (UTC)
What's the difference between the Studica Skills Competitions and some that you show here? They are all for students to showcase their work. There is no diference. I'd like you to reconsider these changes. I like Wikipedia and want to make a contribution. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Frankn12345 (talk • contribs) 03:04, 27 October 2006 (UTC).
- One of the reasons is that you have a vested interest in it, as Wikithewok has mentioned. What "some that you show here" are you referring to? Thanks. —dto (talkcontribs) 09:00, 27 October 2006 (UTC)
Yes I do have a vested interest since I want to see the competitions do well and grow to be the largest online competitions for students and schools. However it doesn't mean that what we are providing is not a good product for students and schools. Our competitions offer an opportunity for students and schools in remote areas or without the money to get involved with other competitions that you list on your site. For example, FIRST (Robotics), AIAA, AUVSI, and basically all of the rest. They all have a vested interest in being successful and promoting their association which is driven by membership dollars and donations. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Frankn12345 (talk • contribs) 15:18, 28 October 2006 (UTC).
- I'm not in charge of Wikipedia policy, but vested interest means the link is inappropriate according to policy. That's all. Many forums will happily allow you to promote your site, which may well be a good product. Wikipedia doesn't. —dto (talkcontribs) 04:37, 30 October 2006 (UTC)
