[edit] A Royal Death

Hi, thank you for your article on A Royal Death. Articles for bands should assess the importance or significance of the band, which do not seem to be the case here. If you can do this assessment, please do, and the article will not be deleted. In the meantime, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag on the page; this is considered vandalism. [edit] Image Tagging for Image:PROGIDY.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:PROGIDY.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] History of Cameroon copyrightvio

You copyright violation tag on this page has been reverted. Most US govt material is in the public domain, see the copyright notice at the bottom of the page you linked to. This page is already linked to in the references section. - SimonLyall 03:28, 11 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Removal of AfD from List of bands from Washington

Hi Fractions, regarding your removal of the AfD notice in the article, once an article is put up for AfD, you should not remove the AfD notice until the AfD itself has been closed. You are perfectly welcome to offer your opinions on the AfD, but you should not remove the AfD notice itself. Thanks, Deathphoenix ʕ 04:30, 18 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Unblock request

I use AOL DSL so the IP addresses probably recirculate? I don't do vandalism!

You aren't directly blocked, try again. --pgk(talk) 07:11, 22 June 2006 (UTC)

If you don't do vandalism, why did you redirect Myspace to Homosexuality? --Sam Blanning(talk) 08:07, 23 June 2006 (UTC)

Either answer my question or ignore it, but don't remove it and try to pretend I never asked it. --Sam Blanning(talk) 23:51, 23 June 2006 (UTC)
I responded on your talk page.

[edit] Your VandalProof Application

Dear Fractions,

Thank you for applying for VandalProof! (VP). As you may know, VP is a very powerful program, and in fact with the new 1.2 version release it has even more power. As such we must uphold strict protocols before approving a new applicant. Regretfully, I have chosen to decline your application at this time. The reason for this is that that you have too few edits in the main article namespace. Please note it is nothing personal by any means, and we certainly welcome you to apply again in the not too distant future. Thank you for your interest in VandalProof.Xyrael / 11:52, 24 June 2006 (UTC)

Thanks for querying my explantion and I'm sorry that it wasn't clear enough, but it's hard to explain - I'll do it by example. Say you're editing Grass Look at the address for that page - it's just /wiki/Grass. That's the main namespace. Then say you were looking at User:Xyrael, which is my userpage - that's in the userspace because the address is /wiki/User:Xyrael. Another example is Wikipedia:Articles for deletion. Does this make sense? Please feel free to contact me again if it doesn't. Thanks for contributing! —Xyrael / 20:12, 24 June 2006 (UTC)
No - there are Wikipedia: articles, Help: articles, Category:, Template:... loads. The mainspace are ones without an item and a colon before, like just straight Main Page. Does this clear things up? Thanks. —Xyrael / 08:29, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Yep, today's featured article is in the mainspace because it doesn't have a Prefix: at all. No problem - that's what I'm here for ;) —Xyrael / 20:58, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
Okay, please feel free to contact me again if you need any other help or advice. —Xyrael / 21:03, 25 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My edits

Please explain why you reverted my edits to The Other Cousin.Raymondluxuryacht 21:01, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. I hoped I hadn't accidentally triggered some anti-vandal sensor; I was just trying to make some minor corrections. If all is good, I'll restore them.Raymondluxuryacht 21:08, 1 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Adding bands

Hi Fractions, following your question on my talk page, you may want to have a look at the page Wikipedia:Notability (music), where you will find some guidelines about what "notable" means in the context of a band. As you mention in your comment, to have released an album is probably an important criteria: it eliminates bands made of people doing music in their basement, which are unlikely to be notable. Other criteria that are likely the make the band non-notable: if it is only known at a local level, or if the person writing the Wikipedia article is a member or a friend of the band. These are just examples taken from articles I have seen on Wikipedia; for more information, check out the page above, and don't hesitate to come back to me (or ask on the corresponding talk page) if you have any more question. Cheers, Schutz 21:01, 4 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Moving pages

Hi there. The correct way to move a page is to use the "move" link at the top of the page. If you cut-and-paste the old page to the new page then what happens is the edit history of the article gets "lost" at the old location where no one will look. The edit history is important to Wikipedia. Tnikkel 19:23, 6 July 2006 (UTC)

No worries. I'll get an admin to make the move properly. Happy editing. Tnikkel 06:56, 7 July 2006 (UTC)
Fixed it with a little bit of the old secret administrator superpower. Bearcat 07:22, 7 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Johnny Depp 2006.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Johnny Depp 2006.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Jkelly 04:49, 16 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned fair use image (Image:Hfxf.gif)

Warning sign This file may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Hfxf.gif. I notice the 'image' page currently specifies that the image can be used under a fair use license. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. --Durin 17:20, 3 August 2006 (UTC)
