[edit] stage name vs. real name
I have never heard Franz Welser-Möst called Franz Möst, on or off stage, and I live minutes away from Severance Hall. Banners, programmes and announcements all use the full name. Can you provide an example of Franz Möst being used? Spamguy 22:07, 16 January 2006 (UTC)
- I am sorry that I can only provide german-language sources for this.
[1] roughly translates:
Franz Leopold Maria Möst was born on August 16th 1960 in Linz as the 4th child of his parents DI Marilies Möst and Dr. Franz Möst. Since 1985 Franz Möst has assumed the name of the city of Wels, thus paying his homage to his hometown, into his stage name Franz Welser-Möst.
And [2] adds, that the stage name was a suggestion of his impresario in 1984. -- FordPrefect42, @ 08:40, 17 January 2006 (UTC)
- PS: This archived concert program from August 29th 1985 [3] shows, that he used to perform under his real name until 1985. -- FordPrefect42 08:53, 17 January 2006 (UTC)

- Aha, I see; I was confused and misread your edit. I was under the impression that Franz Möst was his stage name, not W-M. Indeed, you are right und ich habe mich geirrt. Also, I dunno why I posted the question to your talk page instead of discussion...I must've been drugged when I posted. :) Spamguy 18:56, 20 January 2006 (UTC)

- That's okay, that way I found it immediately. ;-) Hope it is okay that I copied your post here. -- FordPrefect42 19:26, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
