I don't have the original research on this admiral, but for anyone who does and wishes to add it, some more personal information could be added. Family life and childhood is appropriate even though it is not what makes him notable. Also, some more references could be added, such as to his biography (which is somewhat made, albeit hidden to someone reading but not editing, and does not state even the name of the book or the author). So - it happens that I know Admiral Bowman (yeah, this is part shameless name-dropping...also shameless fellow-Duke-alum-dropping); is family information appropriate on these pages? I guess I haven't really seen that much... There is other info I will be putting up as time goes by, but I wasn't sure about that. Thanks! DukeEgr93 02:47, 11 July 2006 (UTC)

Family information is appropriate to a small degree; most well-developed biographical articles have a relatively short section on childhood/life-before-fame which can include a sentence or two about family members (usually parents and their vocation, and possibly spouse/children). It obviously shouldn't go into detail, as just a short mention is enough. Since you know the Admiral personally, I just want to remind you to be aware that Wikipedia has a policy of no original research; there must be a citation of a solid source for every fact entered into the article (optimally).
