Talk:Fram (oil filter)
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Please tell me how you think that this should be properly sourced. The manufacturer's name is on the box; it is common knowledge that Allied-Signal is the successor to Allied Corp., which bough out Bendix. If I have to go back and research through back issues of Forbes to cite this, it will be more trouble than it's worth. Rlquall 03:29, 2 May 2006 (UTC)
[edit] More than oil
Shouldn't this be expanded, or renamed, as Fram doesn't exclusively make oil filters... but also air filters?
[edit] K -Mart same as Fram
I built a Offset printer for Allied signal a few years back. This printer required two print heads to run one color each but not to interlock the artwork. One was for black ink the other fro green[K- Mart]
They have two paint lines, one orange one white. They can change these lines in less then 30 min. I installed this machine in Greenville Ohio and had to run both filters for 2 weeks.
If you want Fram ; Just buy K-Mart. Dave
[edit] Fram Filters - The Unknown Theodicy
Years ago, I have used Fram oil filters on my vehicles with a downdraft filter mount (GM) to which a Chevrolet 305 in a full size Blazer lasted to 313,968.6 miles. What I found in the oil pan was disgusting - caked copper filings from what is believed as a failed oil filter - this is why the website I came across years ago stated that Fram products should be avoided. The cardboard paper caps does not do its job, and I have one other powerplant which once had a Fram filter - an Oldsmobile 260.
My advice - avoid the orange can Fram products and its clones (e.g. Quaker State, Pennzoil). Stick with a Purolator (or its clones - Pro Line, Micro Gard) instead.63.20.71.46 21:52, 16 October 2006 (UTC)
