Frappr! (or Frappr) is a website, currently in beta, which makes use of the Google Maps API. The site allows users of online communities to pin themselves on a map and to see other members' locations. Recently it switched to a Flash based Yahoo! Maps engine.
Some consider it an example of a Web 2.0 website.
[edit] History
Frappr! was created in August 2005 by Brian Tom and Kun Gao as part of Rising Concepts' portfolio of online services. Frappr!'s meteoric rise in the fall of 2005 was due to Frappr!'s easy single click interface and its numerous widgets allowing users to utilize Frappr!'s maps on their own webpages. Frappr's open-ended application allowed users to customize maps to their own individual preferences, contributing significantly to the inherent usefulness and popularity of the website. (nn) Frappr was originally hosted on www.risingconcepts.com and entering this domain into Alexa will show the sharp spike in traffic the site incurred when Frappr! caught on in popularity. This explains the immediate spike in traffic for the domain name frappr.com after the switch in domain names was made.
