Frank Tejeda

Frank Mariano Tejeda (October 2, 1945–January 30, 1997) was a decorated Marine in the Vietnam War and a United States congressman from Texas.
Tejeda was born in San Antonio, Texas. For service in Vietnam he received a Silver Star (posthumously), a Bronze Star, and a Purple Heart. He graduated from St. Mary's University in San Antonio in 1970 and earned a J.D. degree from the University of California School of Law at Berkeley in 1974.
He was elected to the Texas House of Representatives in 1976 and served until 1987, and served in the Texas Senate from 1987 to 1993. During this time he earned an M.A. in Public Administration from the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University in 1980. In 1989 he earned an LL.M. from Yale University School of Law. In 1992 he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives from Texas' 28th District. A brain tumor ended his career. The VA outpatient clinic in San Antonio was posthumously named in his honor.
