Frank Scarpitti

Frank Scarpitti is Mayor-elect of Markham, Ontario.
Born in Hamilton, Ontario, Scarpitti was appointed mayor from 1992 to 1994 following the death of Tony Roman and defeated by Don Cousens. He worked as broadcaster with Rogers Cable in Toronto at CFMT during his absence from politicas from 1994 to 1997.
Scarpitti has served various roles in municipal politics as York Region Councillor (1985-1997), Budget Chief (2003-2006) and Deputy Mayor (1991-1992, 1997-2006). He was elected in 2006 to replace the retiring Cousens as mayor.
Scarpitti has also served on various town committees, including:
