Frank McCool

Francis "Frank" McCool (October 27, 1918 in Calgary, Alberta - May 20, 1973) was a Canadian professional ice hockey goaltender who played for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the National Hockey League.
McCool was recipient of the Calder Trophy in 1945. He won one Stanley Cup in his career. He retired after just two years because of severe ulcers. Prior to playing pro, McCool played two seasons for Gonzaga University.
He suffered from ulcers during his career, and it was confirmed that ulcer played a part in his death on May 20, 1973.
In the 1945 Stanley Cup playoffs, McCool had three consecutive shutouts to start the Finals series against the Detroit Red Wings, setting a playoff record.
