Frank Jonen (born October 1, 1979 in Wiesbaden, Germany) is a German web designer and graphic designer / typographer. He grew up in Idstein, Germany where he runs a small design studio for mostly film related type services and interface design.
His first break came in 2002 when he was contracted by the Linotype Library GmbH in Bad Homburg, Germany to create a new version of their highly successful typeface Zapfino designed by Hermann Zapf, called Zapfino Ink which shows the ink flow of Zapf's calligraphic handwriting in a digital typeface for the first time. This also marks the first commercial PhotoFont project.
During late 2004 he produced a series of Mac desktop pictures that occupied the Top 10 ranks of Apple's Icons, Screensavers, etc. charts for months each.
In 2005 Jonen started helping podcasters and Non Profit Organizations to start using web standards for their websites making these sites more accessible in the process.
