Franco Bash (フランコ・バッシュ) is a video game character in the Fatal Fury series of fighting games.
According to his official biography, Franco was born September 16, 1958. He stands 1.95 m (6 ft 4 in) tall and weighed 115 kg (253 lb). His blood type is A. His hobby is bodybuilding, his favourite food is curry rice, his favourite sport is hockey. His treasured possession is his son Junior, and dislikes people who bully his son. He enjoys jazz music, and is especially skilled at drinking beer.he is a friend of Hon-Fu
Franco is a kickboxer, who began fighting to distract himself from his wife's death. He traveled to Southtown in order to hone his skills as a fighter. He rose in popularity while avoiding the city's corruption, although his presence was beginning to be noticed by Southtown's crime syndicates. Franco was approached by Ryuji Yamazaki after a fight and asked to become a Enemy of Jin Chonrei and Jin Chonshu, who both sought to achieve immortality. He quickly refused, and Yamazaki disappeared as quickly as he appeared, but not before telling Franco that he would gain many strong enemies if he didn't concede.
Afterwards Franco became worried and his fighting ability became impaired. He returned home one day to find his son kidnapped and a note signed by Yamazaki. An inflamed Bash promised to bring his son's captors to justice, and with the help of the Lonely Wolves Andy and Terry Bogard, rescued his son, even though Yamazaki had escaped. With the Jin twins plans trounced, he joined the Lonely Wolves and friends and assisted them in defeating Geese Howard.
He was astounded by all of the fighting styles he witnessed and now travels the world with his son in search of strong opponents.
[edit] Notes
- Franco appearance has been compared to several other characters, including Mike Haggar, Dudley (Street Fighter) and even Freddie Mercury.
- Even more so than the other characters, Franco underwent significant changes in his transition from Real Bout to Real Bout Special. His RBS/RB2 incarnations are physically larger and drawn in a more cartoonish style (comparable to Zangief's Street Fighter 2 and Alpha versions), the default colour of his overalls changes from blue to orange, and his moves take on a more "dynamic" flair.
- Franco's Armageddon Buster is one of the most unique moves found in any 2-D fighting game line, and has been the subject of many changes throughout the series.
In Fatal Fury 3, it is a comboable Desperation Move (meaning it could be performed whenever Franco's health was low enough), and consists of a double uppercut that could be followed by a short combo by repeating the move's command once. A powered-up, multi-hit version called the Genocide Buster is available as a Hidden Desperation move. As such, it also requires Franco's health to be low and can only be executed once per round.
In Real Bout, it obtains P.Power status (thus requiring a full power bar + low health to utilize) and is diversified into a multi-hit attack sequence, the commands of which have to be performed manually. After the initial uppercut, Franco can juggle his opponent several times with a combination of Straights, Hooks, Uppers, High Kicks and Reverse High Kicks, and then finish with either a Back Finisher (side kick), a Tackle, a Bicycle (high reverse roundhouse) or the Omega Shot (downward-aimed haymaker punch with blue special effects). This version of the 'Buster is highly dangerous when performed near the edge of the screen, since the barriers could easily break from the multiple attacks and lead to a Ring Out.
In Real Bout Special (and RBS: Dominated Mind, for the PSX), the 'Buster is no longer comboable, but can still do plenty of harm when used by a skilled player. Here, the uppercut propels the opponent vertically and off the screen, at which point the player has to "program" Franco to attack by inputting commands for various normal and special moves. Once the opponent lands, he or she is stunned, and Franco proceeds to perform the "programmed" attacks. At the end of the sequence, a skilled player may follow up with another special move or even a combo, provided that the last 'Buster attack rendered the opponent stunned and close enough to be hit again.
Finally, the Real Bout 2 version simply hits twice and instantly dizzies the opponent. This version is comboable at close range, and has the unique property of ignoring the invisible "dizzy bar". In other words, if a character who is close to becoming dizzy is hit by the RB2 'Buster, he or she is dizzied, but will still be as close to a dizzy afterwards. Needless to say, this opens up possibilities for re-dizzy combos.
